Rapid City's Winston Day Chief Named Oakley CHL Player of the Week

GLENDALE, AZ (February 25, 2013) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Rapid City Rush forward Winston Day Chief has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ending February 24, 2013.

The Standoff, Alberta native earned points in all four of Rapid City's games last week, all victories. He totaled three goals, two of which were game-winners, and one assist. Day Chief currently has the second longest active point streak in the CHL at six games. Thanks to performances by players like Day Chief, the Rapid City Rush has won four straight games and six of their last seven moving into sole possession of fourth place.

The 24-year-old rookie forward has six goals and seven assists on the season for Rapid City in 25 games played. Half of his goal total has accounted as the game winning goal (3).

Day Chief played colligate hockey his freshman year for the University of Alaska-Anchorage, and his remaining three years for the University of Lethbridge. Over his college career, Day Chief played in a total of 95 games in which he scored 27 goals and contributed 41 assists (68 points). Last season, the 6-2, 190-pound forward played four games in the post-season for the Rush as an amateur player.
