Marquette Rangers News Release
The Marquette Rangers will be knocking on people's doors Wednesday night around the Marquette community. From 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Rangers will be helping collect non-perishable food items for the TV 6 Can-A-Thon.
Thursday, players are volunteering at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans Christmas workshop. A store-like setting is fixed up for the residents, enabling them to shop free of charge for Christmas presents for their loved ones. Items are donated by community organizations and Rangers will be helping to set-up, guide residents through selecting gifts, wrapping and sorting.
Friday, Rangers take to the road heading to Traverse City for games Friday and Saturday nights. Upon return Sunday, December 3, it will be an important day in the community. The Marquette Rangers are teaming up with the YMCA of Marquette County in support of their annual Family Wellness Day and bringing you "A Soldier's Christmas." Everyone is encouraged to join us as we collect toys, games and clothing to help the families of U.P. soldiers who are deployed this holiday season. All donations must be in their original packaging and unwrapped with a $5.00 value. With your donation you will receive one free kids (eight and under) admission, or $1.00 off each student or adult ticket you purchase (maximum of four). With your donations, you will also be entered in the door prize drawing for your chance to win free Ranger tickets, YMCA passes, steak dinners at Bonanza, a certificate for Johnson's Sport Shop and lots more. Also at the Rangers game will be a caricature artist, face painter, Santa, Rock, Eino and Toivo and many entertaining games to participate in! The day is full of family fun starting at the YMCA 12:00 - 3:00 p.m., followed by the anticipated rival Rangers vs. Alpena game at 3:00 p.m... This isn't just a game or time to donate; this will be an event to demonstrate our thanks for those serving our country.
YMCA members can purchase a general admission ticket at the YMCA for an additionally reduced rate (adult $5, student 18 and under and seniors $3 and children 5-8 $1). At the YMCA you can expect to have fun for the whole family while you learn how to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into your daily lives. Some of the activities include family fitness classes, youth yoga, a Dance Dance Revolution tournament and other fun events.
