Rangers Fall 4-3 to Petes

The Kitchener Rangers opened a three game weekend with a 4-3 loss to the Peterborough Petes.

The Petes Justin Larson gave Peterborough an early lead off a backhander at the 2:14 mark of the first period. The Rangers were unable to respond before the end of 20-minutes and headed to the dressing room down one goal.

Kitchener's Zach Lorentz buried a loose puck at 4:43 of the second period to tie the game 1-1. Andrew Crescenzi, in his first game back from injury, scored off a feed from Jason Akeson at the 8:02 mark to put the Rangers up 2-1. The Petes Lino Martschini tied the game 2-2 by the 16:28 mark.

The Rangers' Tyler Randell opened the third period with his eighth goal of the season to put Kitchener up 3-2. Joey West replied for the Petes with a sharp angled shot that beat Rangers netminder Brandon Maxwell at 3:36 to tie the game at 3-3. Martschini scored his second goal of the night and the winning goal at 15:02.

The Rangers travel to Saginaw on Saturday, January 15th for a 7:11pm game versus the Spirit and go on to Sault Ste. Marie, Sunday, January 16th for a 7:00pm stint against the Greyhounds. They return to home ice on Friday, January 21st to host the Oshawa Generals. Game time is 7:30 pm.
