Rangers double up on Generals in 6-3 Win

The Kitchener Rangers claimed a 6-3 victory over the Oshawa Generals in their last home game of pre-season play.

The Rangers took an early lead after Shane Prince deflected a shot by Alex Aleardi at the 2:43 mark of the first period. Michael Cattenacci netted a rebound at the 8:00 mark to put Kitchener up by two goals. Ryan Murphy had a helper on each of the first two goals and followed up with a one-timer at the 10:09 mark on a Rangers power play to make it 3-0 for Kitchener.

Oshawa's first goal of the game came at the 13:18 mark after Jeff Hayes put the puck high to the glove side of Rangers netminder Mike Morrison.

Kitchener continued on a torrid scoring pace into the second period. Jeff Skinner restored the Rangers three goal lead at the 0:32 second mark. The Generals Nick Esposto answered back at the 3:29 mark on the power play. Skinner scored his second goal of the game at the 4:20 mark to once more bring the Rangers up by three. Andrew Crescenzi provided the Rangers with a 6-2 advantage midway through the period after he buried a low shot past Oshawa's goalie.

Oshawa was able to put one more goal up in the third period.

The Rangers outshot the Generals 38-28.

The Rangers next game is in Oshawa on Sunday, September 13th. Game time is 6:05pm. They will return to Kitchener for the home opener on Friday, September 18th. Game time is 7:30pm.
