Rockford RiverHawks News Release

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The most famous of the new Rockford RiverHawks will be featured on his own bobblehead doll night this season.

Randall Simon Bobblehead Night, one of more than two dozen premium giveaway nights, is part of the 2010 promotional calendar released by the RiverHawks on Monday. Simon, an eight-year major-league veteran and former Chicago Cub, is one of four scheduled bobblehead doll nights for fans of Rockford's only professional baseball team. Cubs manager Lou Pinella is one of the others. New giveaway items include a picture frame and a piggy bank.

Fireworks and Thursday Dollar Beer Nights, both perennial fan favorites, return to the schedule.

Fans can guarantee seats for these great nights by purchasing a season ticket or a mini-season plan. The team sold out a quarter of its openings last season.

"This is the most aggressive schedule we've ever had in terms of giveaways," general manager Josh Olerud said. "We've developed some great items, such as the Rocko piggy bank."

The RiverHawks' ninth season begins at 7:05 p.m. May 20 against the Schaumburg Flyers at Road Ranger Stadium. The first 1,000 fans receive a Northern League Inaugural Season T-shirt to commemorate the team's first game in its new league. It's also a Thirsty Thursday. On top of that, fans will be treated to postgame fireworks.

Fireworks nights are also scheduled for May 28, July 2, July 30 and Fan Appreciation Night, Sept. 2.

In addition to the bobblehead nights - Pinella (May 28), Simon (July 16) and two names (June 11 and July 30) to be announced at a later date - the RiverHawks have also scheduled giveaways of batting helmets (May 21), magnet schedules (May 22), picture frames (May 23), Rocko piggy banks (June 5), baseball hats (July 3), baseball cards (Aug. 27), to name just a few.
