Rancho's Jeremy Thorne Shines on the Mound in Victory

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- After a scoreless inning, the Quakes jumped out to a quick lead in the 2nd inning against the Storm. With one out, Jeremy Moore was hit by a pitch and Clay Fuller singled to right advancing Moore to third and Fuller to second on the throw. Carlos Colmenares then singled to shortstop to score both runners to give the Quakes a 2-0 lead.

Jeremy Thorne started for the Quakes and allowed just one hit until the 4th. With two outs James Darnell blasted a solo home run to center field to cut the Quakes lead in half, 2-1.

Rancho broke the game open after the home run as Jeremy Moore led off the 4th by reaching on a three base error on right fielder Brian Joynt and scored on an RBI single by Clay Fuller to make the score 3-1.

The Quakes got two more runs across in the 5th as Abel Nieves singled, Efren Navarro doubled and Jay Brossman followed with an RBI sacrifice fly. With one out and a runner at second, Jeremy Moore doubled off the left field wall to score Navarro to take a 5-1 lead.

Torii Hunter would reach base on an error to lead off the sixth and eventually scored on an RBI single by Efren Navarro to make the score 6-1. Hunter finished the night 1x2 with two walks and a run scored.

Jeremy Thorne was outstanding on the mound lasting a season high 7.1 innings, allowing just one run on three hits. Taylor Wilding pitched out of a bases loaded one out situation by getting a strike out and a pop out in the 8th. Wilding pitched the 9th and allowed a two-run home run to Matt Clark, but struck out the side to end the game 6-3.

The Quakes will continue their series with Lake Elsinore to the Epicenter on Saturday. Right hander Mike Kenney will pitch for the Quakes against right hander Aaron Breit for the Storm. Game time is scheduled for 7:05pm.
