Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Lake Elsinore, CA - Four Rancho Cucamonga pitchers combined to blank the Lake Elsinore Storm on Friday night at The Diamond, as the Quakes earned their first shutout of the year with a 2-0 win over the Storm.
Carlos Duran, Nelfri Contreras, Adolfo Ramirez and Cameron Gibbons teamed up to scatter just six hits, as the Quakes won for the third time in four games at The Diamond.
Johnny DeLuca had a big night offensively, as he walked and scored on an RBI single by Jorbit Vivas in the fourth, then tripled home Brandon Lewis in the sixth to make it a 2-0 game.
That was all of the offense for Rancho on Friday, as they mustered just seven hits on the night.
The Storm had six hits, but couldn't take advantage of seven walks issued by Rancho pitching, as they stranded 12 men on base.
Gibbons recorded the final four outs for his first save of the year, while Ramirez (1-1) worked 2.2 innings and was credited with the win.
Storm starter Nick Thwaits (0-2) was solid, but suffered the loss, as he allowed one run on two hits over four frames.
On Saturday, the Quakes (7-8) look to get back to the .500 mark, as they send Gavin Stone (0-0) to the hill, opposite Carlos Guarate (0-0) at 6:35pm at The Diamond.
