Rockford Rampage News Release
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Rockford Rampage defender Fabinho was named Major Indoor Soccer League Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Fabinho scored a key three-point goal and was the Rampage's sixth attacker as they orchestrated a come-from-behind 9-8 victory over the Milwaukee Wave on Friday at the MetroCentre. Fabinho's three-pointer came with 5:20 left in the fourth quarter to cut the Wave's lead to 8-7. He split two Milwaukee defenders and blasted the ball inside the far left post.
The Brazilian native wore the sixth-attacker jersey with 2:41 remaining in the match. Down the stretch, Fabinho had a clutch header as he got in the path of Ian Bennett's long clearance attempt to add to the Wave's lead. Instead of Milwaukee creating a scoring chance, Fabinho and the Rampage stayed on the attack and earned a game-winning goal from Jamar Beasley with 52.6 seconds remaining to take a 9-8 lead and earn their second victory.
The Rampage are atop the Major Indoor Soccer League standings with a 2-0 record. Next up for the Rampage is a 7:35 p.m. match on Friday, Dec. 4, against the Philadelphia KiXX at the MetroCentre. The first 200 kids in attendance receive a book, compliments of KinderCare. A Wonder walk supporting the March of Dimes takes place during halftime, and KinderCare is sponsoring a kid carnival, with games and prizes available up to halftime.
