Rampage's Crowder Lost for Season

Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

Grand Rapids, MI - The ArenaBowl XV Champion Grand Rapids Rampage announced today that lineman Demetrius Crowder will miss the remainder of the 2002 Arena Football League season due to a knee injury suffered in last week's win over the Orlando Predators.

An MRI on Tuesday revealed tears of the anterior cruciate (ACL) and lateral calteral ligaments (LCL) in Crowder's left knee. He is scheduled to have season-ending surgery on Friday, and will begin rehabbing immediately.

After missing most of training camp with a nagging groin injury, the former Oklahoma State product cracked the Rampage lineup against Chicago in week three. He quickly showed that he belonged on the active roster by finishing the Rush game with 4.5 tackles, 2.5 of which were for a loss. Before his injury, Crowder added another tackle for a loss to run his league-leading total to 3.5.

Crowder (6-2, 280, Oklahoma State) was playing in his first season for the Rampage. He was acquired by Grand Rapids in the 2001 AFL Dispersal Draft in December from the Oklahoma Wranglers.

Minus Crowder, the Rampage (2-2) hit the road to take on the Carolina Cobras (3-1) for a rare Friday night contest. Kickoff at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina is at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard live in Grand Rapids on WBBL 1340 AM.
