Rampage Travel to Chicago Saturday for Must-Win Game

June 8, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage will face a must-win situation when they take on the Chicago Rush tomorrow (June 9) at 8:00 p.m. EDT at Allstate Arena. In order to remain alive in the hunt for the playoffs, the Rampage must defeat the current Central Division leaders and defending ArenaBowl champions on the road.

Grand Rapids lost the first matchup between the two clubs on April 21, 75-54, despite leading by 13 points late in the third quarter. Over the last six seasons, the Rush boast a 9-2 record over the Rampage. Chicago has lost three of its last four games, however, and dropped a 51-40 decision at home to Grand Rapids just two seasons ago.

The Rampage will have to win without two of their key offensive weapons. Grand Rapids waived Timon Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica) after the star receiver and kick returner signed with the NFL's Chicago Bears on Tuesday. Marshall led the AFL in several categories, and was on pace to set league records in return yards and all-purpose yards.

Meanwhile, starting quarterback Chad Salisbury (Perryopolis, Pa.) suffered an ankle injury last week against the Kansas City Brigade that will sideline him for the remainder of the 2007 season. Recently signed quarterback Adrian McPherson (Bradenton, Fla.) will take over the reins after starting eight games for the Austin Wranglers earlier this season.

Tomorrow night's game will be aired live on FSN Detroit beginning at 8:00 p.m. EDT, with Dave Armstrong and Ray Bentley on the call. Rampage fans unable to watch the game can hear every snap beginning at 7:50 p.m. EDT with play-by-play voice Joe Parson on WBFX 101.3 or at RampageFootball.com.
