Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage will welcome the Philadelphia Soul to Centennial Wireless Field at Van Andel Arena for the first time ever tomorrow (March 15) as their 10th Anniversary Season in the Arena Football League continues. The Rampage enter the game with a 1-1 record, while the Soul are 1-0.

Last week, the Rampage fell to the Las Vegas Gladiators, 69-79, in the third highest-scoring game in team history. Grand Rapids led by as many as 14 points in the third quarter before former NFL quarterback Shaun King and the Gladiators launched a comeback. Grand Rapids quarterback Matthew Sauk (Sandy, Utah) threw for 360 yards in the losing effort, marking the second-highest single-game total in Rampage history.

Meanwhile, star wide receiver Timon Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica) set a Rampage record with 331 all-purpose yards. He returned nine kickoffs for 191 yards, caught a team-high 10 passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns, and scored once more on a three-yard rush. Marshall currently ranks second in the AFL with 461 all-purpose yards after leading the league and setting a team record last year with 2,734 all-purpose yards.

Joining the Rampage will be former Grand Rapids quarterback and 1998 Heisman Trophy runner-up Michael Bishop (Willis, Texas), who the Rampage acquired in a trade yesterday with the Kansas City Brigade. Bishop last wowed West Michigan football fans in 2005, when he set an AFL record with 459 rushing yards in 15 games with the Rampage. Donning a Grand Rapids uniform for the first time tomorrow will be defensive back Kevin Gaines (Euclid, Ohio), who ranks ninth in league history with 499 tackles and sixth with 40 interceptions over his nine-year (1998-2006) AFL career.

Gaines' former team, the visiting Philadelphia Soul, won its first game of the season last week, 63-30, on the road against the Nashville Kats. Grand Rapids last met the Soul in 2005, when Soul quarterback Tony Graziani threw eight touchdowns to defeat the Rampage, 64-41, in Philadelphia. Tomorrow, the Soul, who boast famous singer and actor Jon Bon Jovi as their chairman of the board, will visit West Michigan for the first time in their short four-year history.

Comcast Local Detroit will broadcast the Rampage matchup against Philadelphia live. For additional information including updated schedules, rosters, and ticket options, visit RampageFootball.com.
