Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League announced today the signing of fullback/linebacker Umar Muhammad. In addition, the team released wide receiver/defensive back Sean Riley.
Muhammad (5-11, 257, North Texas) comes to Grand Rapids after spending the last three seasons with the Indiana Firebirds. In 26 games with the Firebirds, Muhammad ran the ball 12 times for 35 yards and three touchdowns on offense. He also registered 30.5 tackles and two sacks on defense.
Prior to Muhammad's signing, Grand Rapids was down to only a two-man rotation at the fullback/linebacker position due to a foot injury that forced Travis McDonald to the injured list.
Riley (5-9, 166, Western Michigan), who was acquired by the Rampage in the 2002 AFL Expansion Draft, played in each of Grand Rapids' first two games, recording eight catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Muhammad's first action will come this Sunday in the Rampage's home opener against the New York Dragons. The game, which kicks off at 3 p.m., can be heard live on WBBL 1340 AM.
