Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
Michael Bishop put up 411 total yards of offense (337 through the air and 74 on the ground), but four costly turnovers resulted in the Grand Rapids Rampage falling 73-61 to the Austin Wranglers Saturday night at Van Andel Arena.
Bishop was named the Offensive Player of the Game in a losing effort as he completed 20-of-32 passes for 337 yards with eight touchdowns and interception. He added another 74 yards on the ground on just eight carries. In just two games played, Bishop tops the AFL with an astonishing 174 yards on the ground.
Grand Rapids came out of the gates hot as Bishop completed his first eight passes, including two touchdowns to Chris Jackson. Jackson finished the game with 132 yards on seven catches with three touchdowns and become just the 11th player in AFL history with 1,000 career points.
The Rampage led 20-7 at the end of the first quarter, but net recovery for a score by Austin and a Bishop fumble quickly made it a Wranglers 27-20 game. Grand Rapids tied it at 27 with little more than six minutes left in the first half when Bishop connected with Jackson for a third time.
In the third quarter, Austin scored the first two scores after the Rampage failed on a fourth down attempt that gave the Wranglers a 41-27 lead. Newly acquired Dennison Robinson grabbed two touchdown scores from Bishop sandwiched between an AFL-record tying 49-yard passing score from Fitzgerald to Tacoma Fontaine. The teams traded scores the rest of the way.
