Snohomish County Explosion News Release
Everett, WA--Former Seattle Pacific University point guard Ralph Steele has signed with the Everett Explosion, Snohomish County's newest professional sports team. Steele has begun to practice with the team as they prepare for their inaugural season in the Everett Events Center starting in March in 2007.
"Ralph Steele is a key piece of the first year puzzle", said Nathan Mumm, Explosion general manager," He's an NBA caliber player. He's one of the purest shooters I've ever seen. He reminds me of (Milwaukee Bucs) Michael Redd . I expect a great year from Ralph, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ultimately moves up to the pros."
The 6' 1" guard played for SPU in the 2004 and 2005 season where he set the all time school record for free throw percentage at 91.2%. Steele was all conference defensive player of the year and led the NCAA Division II in free throw percentage in 2004 and 2005. Before transferring to SPU from Citrus College, a Western State Conference school in Glendora, CA., Steele was the second leading scorer in the state and was named to the all-conference 1st team.
The Explosion Basketball team recently opened their new team store and corporate offices in Everett, WA.
