Everett, WA--Veteran basketball forward Albert "AJ "Stallworth has signed with the Everett Explosion, Snohomish County's newest professional sports team. Stallworth has begun to practice with the team as they prepare for their inaugural season in the Everett Events Center starting in March in 2007.
With a resume' that includes the Harlem Globetrotters (2003-2004), the ABA Birmingham Magicians and the ANBL Georgia Gwizzlies, Stallworth brings professional experience to the Explosion, an expansion team in the International Basketball League. "He's a proven winner.", commented Nathan Mumm, general manager of the Explosion, " AJ's teams always seem to win their conference championships."
An All Conference standout at Wenonah High School in Birmingham, AL. Stallworth led his team to the Alabama State Championship in 1993. Later, he started for Life University in Atlanta, GA and helped them to an NAIA Division I National Championship in 2000. After playing for the Harlem Ambassadors (2002), the Harlem Globetrotters (2003-2004), Stallworth was MVP of the Georgia Gwizzlies in 2005 before coming to the Northwest to play in the IBL.
The Everett Explosion Basketball team continues to gain momentum as they advance toward their March 2007 inaugural season opener. A recently signed contract with the Everett Events Center secures their home court advantage in Snohomish County's premier sports venue for the ten home games of their IBL schedule. Fans are urged to act quickly to get the best seats for the upcoming season. Single game tickets and season tickets will also be available through the Everett Events Center once the 2007 schedule has been finalized.
