Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Monday that the Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with forward Anthony Nigro.

Nigro (pronounced NIE-grow) has played in 194 professional games - 175 of them at the American Hockey League level. The AHL is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America. He netted 27 goals in those 175 AHL games, all with the Peoria Rivermen, and added 25 assists after being a 6th-round selection in the NHL draft by the St. Louis Blues in 2008. The 23-year-old appeared in 19 games last season with the ECHL's Evansville IceMen as he rehabilitated an injury.

Ralph on Nigro: "Anthony has great vision and skill. He's got a lot of versatility up front and plays with an ‘edge' to his game. He's a huge addition to our forwards."

Nigro joins Taylor Vause, Brett Robinson, Gaelan Patterson and Grant Blakey as the forwards on Ralph's current training-camp roster for the Steelheads. Training camp will begin in early October in Boise.

Idaho opens the regular season on October 18 at Utah. The team's home opener is Wednesday, October 23, at CenturyLink Arena in Boise against the San Francisco Bulls.

Fans can still purchase Season Tickets for the 2013-14 season, with full-season packages beginning at as little as $275 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season packages are also available. After finishing the regular season with 45 wins and nearly 100 points in the standings last season, you won't want to miss any of the action next season when the Steelheads take the ice.
