Rainmen Sign Power Forward John Strickland

(Halifax, N.S.) The Halifax Rainmen signed power forward 6'8" 275 lbs John Strickland today. Strickland a New York native played in the CBA in 2007 for the Albany Patroons and in 2008 for the Monarch Skyrockets where he averaged 17 points per game and 7 rebounds per game.

"Strickland is a vet with a lot of experience in winning and understanding what it takes to win. We are also looking forward to him in giving us more stability on the boards," said Coach Rick Lewis.

The New York City native played his final two collegiate years (1993-1995) at Hawaii Pacific University, where he averaged a double-double in each season. He also played six seasons in the USBL (1995-2000) where he was one of the most dominating players. He was voted to the 1997 "All-USBL Second Team" and the "All-USBL First Team" in 1998. He averaged 22 points and 7.7 rebounds in 95 games.

Strickland has played professionally around the world for more than ten years. Besides playing in various United States minor leagues, he has made stops in Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Korea, Argentina, France, Italy, Portugal and Serbia.

Strickland will join the Rainmen on the Road in Vermont on Friday.
