Rainmen, Evans Fail to Reach Agreement

(HALIFAX - NS) This morning Halifax Rainmen President & CEO, Andre Levingston, announced that the organization was unable to come to a formal agreement with Head Coach, Mike Evans, for the 2011-12 season

Evans was named Head Coach of the Rainmen in late January 2011, when former Head Coach Les Berry resigned from his duties to pursue a career outside of basketball.

During his tenure, Evans successfully led the franchise to its first ever semi-final playoff round, where the team was defeated in the last game of a best-of-three series against the former Lawton Fort-Sill Cavalry.

"We thoroughly enjoyed having Coach Evans and his son, Mike Evans Jr. as a part of our team," said Levingston. "Coach Evans was a fantastic mentor and inspiration for our players, and did a great job of coaching the team. We wish him and his family all the best in their future endeavors."

Levingston says he will be working diligently throughout the month of August to find a suitable replacement for Coach Evans, and that a press conference naming the new Head Coach will be held once a decision has been made.
