
Rainmen Beat Storm in NBL Canada Playoff Classic

(Charlottetown, PE) It will be a game NBL Canada Fans will be talking about for a long time. The Halifax Rainmen needed overtime to beat the Island STORM 125-116 to claim the Atlantic Division Crown and move on to the NBL Canada finals with a 4 games to 1 best of seven series win.
The STORM left everything on the court at the Tower on the campus of St. Marys University in Halifax Monday night. The Island team held a 25-17 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and a 54-36 lead at halftime. But the Rainmen, as they have throughout the series, owned the 3rd quarter by outscoring the STORM 38-21 and drawing to within 1 point at the end of 3. The 4th quarter was a beauty as the two teams traded baskets back and forth with no less than 5 lead changes alone in the last 94 seconds. Brandon Robinson of the STORM hit 2 foul shots with 11 seconds to go in the 4th which sent the two teams to overtime.
In overtime, the Rainmen jumped out to a quick lead and the STORM could not recover, outscoring the Island team 21-12 in the extra period to claim the series.
The game was a physical affair with 83 fouls called and 92 foul shots between the two teams.
Nick Okorie and Brandon Robinson of the STORM scored 62 points between them, Okorie with 35 and Robinson with 27. Robinson also added 10 rebounds for a double-double. Mike Martin and Mike Williams scored 14 and 13 points respectively before both fouling out of the game while Nick Evans scored 8 and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Kevin Young continued his fine play for the Rainmen scoring 26 and grabbing 12 rebounds for a double-double. Jermaine Daily also had a double-double for the Rainmen with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The STORM head back to Prince Edward Island for their final event of the year, STORM Fan Appreciation Night on Tuesday evening at the PEI Brewing Company in Charlottetown from 6:30 to 8:30 pm sponsored by the Brewing Company and Dominos Pizza. It is a chance for the STORM to say think you to their great fan base. The event will be a family affair with a bouncy castle for children and snacks for STORM Fans. Everyone is welcome.
