Halifax Rainmen News Release
(Halifax, NS) The Halifax Rainmen are pleased to announce the signings of 6'5'' 210-pound guard Orien Greene and 6'5'' 191-pound shooting guard, Richard Delk.
"Orien and Richard are two explosive guards with NBA experience that can break you down off the dribble," said Halifax Rainmen President & CEO, Andre Levingston. "With these new signings, fans can expect to see more athleticism on the court, as well as more ball pressure and a better presence on the defensive end." 29-year-old Greene became known for his aggressive play during his college career at the University of Florida and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he earned the award of defensive player of the year in his senior season.
In 2005, Greene was drafted with the 53rd overall pick by the Boston Celtics, and began his professional career as backup to Delonte West. Greene spent last season with the New Jersey Nets, and has appeared in a total of 131 NBA games.
24-year-old Delk is the nephew of former NBA player Tony Delk. He graduated from Troy University in 2010, and went on to sign a one-year contract with the Atlanta Hawks.
Both Greene and Delk will make their Rainmen debut during tonight's game at the Halifax Metro Centre at 7 p.m. against the Moncton Miracles. Tickets for tonight's game are available at Ticket Atlantic locations and the Metro Centre Box Office.
