Overtime Win Keeps Lightning Lossless
November 10, 2011 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
London Lightning News Release
The London Lightning had a great deal to be smiling about in the second week of National Basketball League of Canada action. A perfect record. The reigning player of the week. Legitimate buzz surrounding the team. All of that counts for nothing once the ball is tipped though.
Certainly, the visiting team from Quebec knew that they had two important match-ups against London - at the John Labatt Centre - in the span of just seven days.
There was a feeling out process, as the teams crawled to a sluggish 39-36 London, halftime score.
Fast forward to the 7 minute mark of the 4th, with Quebec holding a 6 point lead in front of 2,300 fans. A Shawn Daniels bucket started a run of wide open play that saw the game go down to the wire. 84-83 was the score with 32 seconds left. It was tied at 85 after regulation. Finally, a frenetic final twelve minutes saw London win 102-94. They improve to 4 and 0 on the season.
It will be even more interesting in a week when the Kebs and Lightning do it again on November 17th at 7pm. The next home game for the Lightning takes place this Sunday against Saint John Mill Rats at 2:00pm!
