Raiders' Jean-Pierre Named Player of the Week
May 7, 2013 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL)
Richmond Raiders News Release
Thanks to his standout kick returns in the Raiders' win over Albany, Joseph Jean-Pierre has been named the PIFL's Special Teams Player of the Week. His 51 yard kickoff return for a touchdown brought the Raiders to within 16 points at the end of the third quarter, and he later recovered an onside kick that led to a Raiders touchdown and the team's first lead of the game.
Jean-Pierre totaled 116 yards on his four returns. The former Virginia Union and Hermitage High School star is the first non-kicker to win the special teams honor this year. This is the third time that a Raider has won the weekly award on special teams (T.C. Stevens grabbed the previous two) and the seventh overall player of the week award for the team, which is the most of any team in the league.
The Raiders return to action May 18 with a contest against the Louisiana Swashbucklers in Lake Charles, LA. The next home game will be May 25 at the Richmond Coliseum when they take on the Columbus Lions. Kickoff is at 7:00, and tickets start at just $7. Tickets are available via the secure online store on the Raiders' website (www.richmondraidersprofootball.com), by calling the Raiders' office at 804-780-0430, or via Ticketmaster or the Richmond Coliseum box office.
