
Raiders' Fast Start Slows Stampede

It took the Richmond Raiders offense two plays to show off their new offensive weapons. The defense took a little longer; but after two series both had established their dominance in a 52-7 win over the visiting Harrisburg Stampede.
Bryan Randall threw a 30 yard touchdown pass to Redd Thompson on the game's second play; one of three on the night for Thompson. The Raider defense then yielded its only touchdown on the evening in the Stampede's opening drive. The Raiders responded with a 17 yard Randall pass to Rodney Landers to make the score 13-7.
Harrisburg's second series was to be an indication of how the rest of the night would turn out. Using a fierce pass rush and some excellent secondary play the Raider defense finished the night giving up a total of 49 yards on 52 Harrisburg plays. The Stampede was 0-10 in third down conversions.
Randall threw for 170 yards, completing 11 of 20 passes. He threw for 4 touchdowns and was never sacked or intercepted.The Raiders amassed 231 yeards with their 34 offensive plays.
