RICHMOND, Va. (May 29, 2015) - The Richmond Raiders (6-4) earned a big win Friday night over the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (6-3) in Allentown, as they won 35-28 and vaulted themselves into playoff contention. This was Richmond's fourth straight win and put them solidly in third place in PIFL standings.

In an uncharacteristically low-scoring matchup, the league's top-ranked offense of the Raiders was held to just 27 points through three quarters of play. Both team's defenses were the stars of the show tonight, as Richmond's held Lehigh Valley scoreless in the second quarter and to just two scores in the entire second half. DL Brandon Sparrow recorded three sacks, and DB Rece Thorne notched seven tackles. Failure to convert on several third and fourth down situations plagued the Raiders and Steelhawks and kept their total points low. However, the total numbers that the Raiders offense put up told a much different story than what was reflected in the score.

QB Jonathan Bane completed 24 of 40 passes for 276 yards and all four of the team's touchdowns. WR Ron Davis had five catches for 83 yards and three touchdowns, including an impressive 40-yard catch from Bane to open the game. WR Robert Holland also scored for the Raiders, and he hauled in eight catches for 107 yards.

For Lehigh Valley, QB Shane McSweeny struggled to ignite the Steelhawks offense, completing just eight of 27 passes for two touchdowns before eventually being replaced by QB Zach Zulli. Zulli would go on to complete seven of 14 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. WR Brandon Renford led the receiving corp with seven catches for 101 yards and a touchdown. Three other Steelhawks - WR Mack Ogletree, WR Darryl Thompson and FB Paul Melicharek - would find the endzone for scores.

The Raiders are next in action on Saturday, June 6 as they return to the Richmond Coliseum to face off against the Nashville Venom for Sports Reality Sports Day in RVA. Tickets for all remaining home games start as low as $7 and are available on the Raiders' website, www.RichmondRaidersProFootball.com, or by calling 1-855-GO-RAIDERS or 804-780-0430. Be sure to check out the Summer Special - great lower bowl seats for just $9. Additionally, fans can contact the Richmond Coliseum box office or visit ticketmaster.com.
