Raging Tide Split Doubleheader with Mavs

Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release


OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (13-15) split the doubleheader on Friday against the Seacoast Mavericks (12-19) at The Ballpark, falling in the first game 8-2, then winning the nightcap 3-1.

GAME ONE

The Raging Tide and Mavericks picked up where they left off on Thursday night with Seacoast holding a -2 lead in the top of the fourth as the game was suspended due to rain. The Mavs added four runs, as the Tide were held scoreless.

Josh Jacques (Rollinsford, NH/East Tenn State) got the victory for the Mavs tossing five innings of relief.

Harry Ridge (Yarmouth, ME/Bowdoin) suffered the loss for OOB.

GAME TWO

Seacoast got on the board first in the top of the third as Clay Fenwick (Jacksonville, FL/Tallahassee CC) scored on a fielder's choice hit by Victor Sorrento (Monroe Township, NJ/Sacred Heart). The Tide responded however in the bottom half of the inning however with a double by Matt Pagano (Cranston, RI/Marist) that brought in Skip Flanagan (Framingham, MA/RIT), who then scored on a single by Brian Doran (Ayr, ONT/Maine).

OOB added one run in the fifth inning to cushion their lead to 3-1 on a hit and run by Phil Sciretta (Duxbury, MA/Virginia Tech) that brought home Aaron Wilson (Windsor, CT/Hartford).

Enrique Sosa (Panama City, Panama/Miami) got the victory going six innings, giving up just two hits, one run, and had a season-high eight strikeouts on the night.

The Raging Tide will return to action tomorrow as they travel to Nashua to take on the first place Silver Knights at 7:05pm.
