RiverCity Rage News Release
The River City Rage used a late second quarter goal line stand and some offensive fireworks from running back Sha-Ron Edwards to defeat the Beaumont Drillers 48-26 Friday night at Savvis Center.
Edwards scored 3 touchdowns on the ground and caught a pass from back up quarterback Justin Peery for another score as the Rage improved to 6-1 on the season and 3-1 at Savvis Center. Leading 14-6 near the end of the second quarter the Rage defense stopped the Drillers inside the 4 yard line on 3 straight plays, then used a Jabari Smith fumble recovery to thwart the Drillers at the end of the 1st half. The Rage defense stepped up to cause a number of interceptions and fumbles throughout the game. Peery played the entire 2nd half at quarterback while Anthony Fisher performed as a Wide -Out.
The Rage have a bye-week next weekend, then swing back into action two weeks from Saturday to take on the Lakeland Thunderbolts in what Head Football Coach Mike Wyatt calls, "the most important game of the season."
Beaumont, playing its 3rd road game as in as many weeks, fell to 4 and 3 on the year.
