Rage Set to Skate in Charity Events
April 25, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - While they would love to be playing in the Central Hockey League's upcoming President's Cup Finals, several Rocky Mountain Rage players will still be lacing up their skates over the next couple of weeks to participate in two hockey fundraisers: The Hockey Guild's Skate with the Stars Celebrity Charity Game to raise money for Hockey Fights Cancer and the 24 Hours of Hockey to benefit The Children's Hospital of Denver.
The Rage's Brent Cullaton, Tyler Butler, Chip Dunleavy, and David Morelli will all don their hockey gear against other local hockey-playing celebrities on May 4 from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. at Big Bear Ice Arena. The team's equipment manager, Patrick Stevens, and radio play-by-play announcer, Brian Clark, will be playing, as well.
The Skate with the Stars Celebrity Charity Game is the pinnacle event of The Hockey Guild's Quest for the Crown adult hockey tournament and festival to raise money for the National Hockey League's Hockey Fights Cancer Foundation. For more information on the weekend's events, please visit http://www.thehockeyguild.com/PageD.aspx?ID=QuestForTheCrown.
Rage head coach Tracy Egeland will then hop off the bench to lace up his skates along with the players listed above at the Second Annual 24 Hours of Hockey at Big Bear Ice Arena on May 16 - 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 pm. Last year's 24-hour hockey marathon raised more than $25,000 for Children's Hospital.
This year, Coach Egeland and his players will be skating 'round the clock on behalf of five-year-old budding hockey star Christian Moreno. Christian, who plays hockey at the Hyland Hills Hockey Association, was recently stricken with liver cancer and is currently undergoing treatment at Children's.
Fans are invited to support the Rage's efforts to raise money for The 24 Hours of Hockey by making a tax-deductible donation to The Children's Hospital on behalf of Christian Moreno using the online donation form at www.24hoursofhockey.com/donate/. When donating, please enter Christian's name in the available fields.
