RiverCity Rage News Release
BLOOMINGTON, IL - The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team lost for the fifth time this season after a tough 51-42 defeat on the road at the hands of the Bloomington Extreme. The crowd of 4,838 at the US Cellular Coliseum saw the home team improve to 5-4 on the season after they racked up 280 total yards of offense.
RiverCity quarterback Steve Rush was very effective through the air and on the ground in his second start of the season. Rush was 13 of 23 for 132 yards and two touchdowns passing while adding 42 yards and a score on the ground. Tim Blackwell, returning to the lineup after an injury, caught three balls for 35 yards and two touchdowns and David Daniels rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown.
Hurtis Chinn was dominant on kick off returns, running back his first touchdown of the year, and combining with Tim Blackwell for 250 return yards on nine attempts.
The Rage defense and special teams made it interesting late in the game by forcing a safety on a kickoff return and causing the lone turnover of the game on a Brandon Gregory fourth quarter interception. However, the Bloomington offense was too much at home, led by their talented quarterback Dusty Burk. Burk was 17 of 27 for 180 yards passing with five touchdowns and just one interception. James Walton caught three touchdown passes to bring his league leading total to 17 on the season.
The Rage returns home on Saturday, May 31 as they welcome these same Extreme to the Family Arena. Kickoff is set for 7:00 with gates opening at 6:00. The Rage have put together a new ticket campaign for underprivileged children in the area and are asking their corporate partners or individuals to purchase tickets that will in turn be donated to the Rage Children's Charities for that game. The charities include The Ronald McDonald House, Camp Sunrise via The TL Jones Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA. The Rage will match any donation made by their partners in an effort to reach as many children as possible. Call the Rage ticket office at (636) 896.4285 for all of the information on this exciting campaign.
