RiverCity Rage News Release
St. Charles, MO - The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team will be looking for some revenge this weekend as they travel to Bloomington, IL to take on the Extreme this Saturday night. The Rage dropped a close game at home to the Extreme, 41-38, at the Family Arena on April 12th. The RiverCity defense all but shut down the Bloomington offense in the second half of that game, allowing only seven points. However, Rage head coach, Ken Stills knows it will be tough to duplicate that feat Saturday.
"They are second in the league in offense," said Stills. "They pretty much air it out. (Quarterback Dusty) Burk got hurt last time we played and he looks to be 100% right now. He still ranks second in the league in passing and touchdowns even though he missed a full game this year."
The Rage (3-4) come into this weekend ranked first in the UIF in pass defense, allowing only 124.3 yards per game and 15 touchdown passes, while the Extreme (4-4) are second in the league in passing yards with 193.8 per game, including 28 TD throws. The Rage will be looking to keep the Bloomington offense on the sidelines with their newfound rushing attack. Two RiverCity newcomers, quarterback Steve Rush and running back David Daniels, combined for 167 yards on the ground on 24 carries for a per-rush average of almost seven yards.
"The Extreme defense is struggling right now, especially against the run," added Stills. "We are going to try to keep it on the ground this week. It's tough to do that in this game. The league is set up for passing the ball. But we have to work to our strengths and their weaknesses. They also lead the league in sacks. That's just another reason to try and establish the run. Hopefully that will slow down their pass rush and open things up for us to throw the football. This game night just come down to whoever has the ball last will win."
The next home game for the Rage is Saturday, May 31st as they host these same Extreme. The Rage have put together a new ticket campaign for underprivileged children in the area and are asking their corporate partners or individuals to purchase tickets that will in turn be donated to the Rage Children's Charities for that game. The charities include The Ronald McDonald House, Camp Sunrise via The TL Jones Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA. The Rage will match any donation made by their partners in an effort to reach as many children as possible. Each company or individual also has the option of donating the tickets to a charity of their own choosing as well.
