Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage have signed right winger John Snowden, who becomes the team's first newcomer under contract for the 2008-09 Central Hockey League season.
Snowden is entering his sixth year as a pro having spent most of his career in the ECHL. The native of Snohomish, Wash., and former member of the U.S. National Junior Team was named an ECHL All-Star during his rookie season with the Texas Wildcatters in 2003-04 before tallying a career-high 37 goals during his second year with Texas in 2004-05. He has received two call-ups to the American Hockey League throughout his career, playing a total of three games with the Utah Grizzlies and Norfolk Admirals during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons, respectively.
"John is a skilled player and a proven goal scorer," said Rage Head Coach and General Manager Tracy Egeland. "I know he's excited to be here, and I'm looking forward to seeing the type of offense we should be able to generate with him added to our line-up."
Last year Snowden began the campaign playing in Germany where he registered 55 points (26g-29a) in just 38 games for the Rosenheim Star Bulls. He then headed back to North America to finish the season with the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads.
Snowden joins six others on the Rage's current 2008-09 roster, all of whom played for the team last season: Tyler Butler (defenseman), Rob Chappell (defenseman), Colt King (left wing), David Morelli (center), Daymen Rycroft (center), and Pat Sutton (defenseman).
Season tickets and mini-plans for the Rage's 2008-09 CHL campaign are on sale now with packages beginning as low as $17 per seat. Rocky Mountain begins the season on the road on Oct. 17 against the Laredo Bucks before returning to Broomfield Event Center for the home opener on Oct. 22 against the Colorado Eagles.
