RiverCity Rage News Release

ST CHARLES, MISSOURI: The RiverCity Rage fell to 7-3 on the season, and suffered their first loss of the year at the Family Arena, after they were topped by the Omaha Beef 43-41. A great crowd of 2,361 rocked the Family Arena and provided the team with wonderful support during the key conference match up.

The teams were locked in a tremendous defensive battle heading into the fourth quarter, with the Beef leading the Rage 27-13. However, both teams exploded offensively, combining for 44-total points in the fourth quarter. The Rage had two straight scores on a 36 yard passing play from Dixie Wooten to Maurice Avery and then Randy Bell rolled into the end zone from 37 yards out on the very next possession to tie the score at 27-27. The Beef were able to put together a nice drive on their next possession with running back R.J. Rollins scoring from one-yard out to help the Beef improve to 7-2 on the year.

Wooten improved his season touchdown total to 41 with four passing scores, two to Avery and a pair to Luke McArdle. Wooten finished with 193 yards passing on the evening. Randy Bell scored twice on the ground and finished the game with 68 yards rushing.

Defensively, the Rage was led by Byron Jones who had 7.5 tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack. Pig Brown and Daryon Brutley each intercepted Beef quarterback James McNear, who finished the game just 13-of-26 with 90 yards passing, two interceptions, and one touchdown pass.

"Obviously we had some issues on special teams tonight and we have some areas we need to address," said head coach Rik Richards. "I am very happy with the effort tonight and confident that we can make the adjustments needed to get everything fixed. I am very proud of the way that several players stepped up and played against a very good football team tonight."

The Rage will hit the road for their next two contests, first to play divisional foe Muskegon on June 6th and then to battle the Bloomington Extreme on June 13th. The Rage will return home for the final time during the regular season on June 20th to battle El Paso, kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
