Rachal honored by AFL

TAMPA - The Arena Football League named Tampa Bay Storm defensive back Traco Rachal ADT Defensive Player of the Week for Week 11 of the 2008 season.

"It is nice to see players like Traco get rewarded for their efforts," said Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum. "He made the big play on defense that we have been looking for."

Rachal (6-foot-2, 210-pounds, Texas A&M-Commerce) recorded an AFL Week 11 high 12.5 tackles, one pass breakup and one interception as the Tampa Bay Storm defeated the New Orleans VooDoo, 41-37, Friday night. His interception came on the final play of the game. New Orleans had the ball on fourth-and-goal at the Tampa Bay nine-yard line with eight seconds remaining when Rachal intercepted VooDoo quarterback Danny Wimprine in the endzone to seal the victory. The Storm defense held the VooDoo to a season low 16 points in the first half, as well as, a season low 37 total points.

Tampa Bay travels to Grand Rapids to face the Rampage at Van Andel Arena on Friday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
