Akron Racers News Release
Akron, OH - June 28, 2014 - The Akron Racers jumped out and scored early, driving in four runs in the first inning to build a lead against the PA Rebellion, which they never relinquished. Those four runs would be all the Racers needed as the Rebellion managed to score just two runs in the game.
Kailee Cuico was solid at the plate for the Racers. Cuico went 2-4, drove in one run and scored two. She singled in the first inning and launched a ball over the left field fence for her first professional home run in the fifth.
Rachele Fico provided yet another strong performance for the Racers as she picked up the win allowing only two runs, while recording 1 strikeout, 1 walk, and two hits in her four innings of work.
Courtney Liddle hit a home run to left center field to drive in both of the Rebellion's runs, but the comeback attempt was quickly put to bed as Fico retired the next three Pennsylvania hitters to end the 4th inning.
Hannah Campbell threw three scoreless innings of relief and recorded her first professional save. The Rebellion managed just two hits off of Campbell.
The Racers added two runs in the 4th to make the score 7-2 then extended their lead in the fifth off of Cuico's home run and an RBI double from Ayumi Karino to drive in Jessica Garcia and Ashley Thomas.
