Akron Racers News Release
AKRON, OH - July 12, 2012 - The Akron Racers are pleased to announce the signing of pitcher Erin Arevalo from the University of Georgia as a free agent.
Arevalo anchored the University of Georgia pitching staff during the 2012 season, finishing her college career with a 27-9 record and a 1.40 ERA in 245 innings pitched. She became the fifth player in Georgia Bulldog history to record over 200 strikeouts in one season, finishing with 270 strikeouts in four years.
Arevalo will be taking the roster spot of Racers' rookie Jamia Reid, whom has been placed on the seven-day disabled list. She is expected to see some time in the pitching circle this weekend as the Akron Racers travel to the Carolinas to take on the Carolina Diamonds in a four game series.
The Diamonds and Racers square off tonight at 7:05 ET. The live video of the game can be seen at www.profastpitch.com .
