The Quincy Gems continued their undefeated start to the season with a win at home over the Lafayette Aviators on Sunday. Two home runs powered the Gems' offensive efforts, and they defeated Lafayette 8-4.
Zach Heeke provided the visitors with two hits and batted in two of their runs. Lafayette had a hot 5th inning, scoring three runs and bringing the game within one. The Gems would go on to respond with three runs of their own over the next two innings, keeping the Aviators at bay.
Lafayette will continue their road stretch Monday against the Kokomo Jackrabbits at 6:35 pm.
