LAFAYETTE, INDIANA - May 8, 2023 - The Lafayette Aviators are hosting a Major League Baseball Jr. Home Run Derby at Loeb Stadium on Saturday, June 17 beginning at 10:00. This is a fun, FREE event for baseball and softball players.
Winners from the MLB Jr Home Run Derby hosted by the Aviators will advance to the regional qualification round hosted by the Cincinnati Reds on June 20 at Great American Ballpark. The regional winners advance to the national finals at the MLB All-Star Game
For baseball players there are two age groups 12 & under and 14 & under. For softaball players, there are two age groups 14 & under and 16 & under. The cut off date for participation is the age of the participant as of July 20, 23.
Each athlete will have 25 swings or 3 minutes to hit as many homeruns as possible, whichever comes first. There will be two (2) rounds where top four (4) participants in each age group from the first-round advance to the final round.
