Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Lake Elsinore, CA - Rancho Cucamonga swatted a season-high five home runs, all solo shots, in Saturday's 7-1 victory at Lake Elsinore, giving them two of three in the series at The Diamond.
The Quakes scored single runs in each of the first six innings, as they finish their six-game road trip at .500, going 3-3 for a second straight road trip.
C.J. Retherford (4), Jonathan Garcia (1), Leon Landry (3), Alexis Aguilar (1) and Mike Pericht (6) all went deep in the effort, with Lake Elsinore starter Mark Pope (4-5) surrendering four of the five solo homers.
Quakes' starter JonMichael Redding overcame an erratic start to his night, allowing just one run on two hits over six innings, despite walking three and hitting a batter. Redding (2-1) also recorded a season-high eight strikeouts in earning his second win of the year.
Freddie Cabrera and Scott McGough combined to work the final three innings, helping the Quakes to secure their sixth win in nine games against the Storm this year.
Rancho (23-26) will host Modesto on Sunday afternoon at 2:05pm, sending Garrett Gould (1-4) to the mound against Christian Bergman (4-4). Sunday is our third of four U.S. Bank Youth Baseball Little League Clinics, as with the purchase of a ticket to the game, little leaguers can enjoy free baseball instruction and a free autograph session with Quakes' players and coaches, all thanks to U.S. Bank. Registration for the clinic begins at 9am, with the action starting at 10am. Tickets are available by calling 909-481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
