Quakes Hot Stove Gala Benefit Gala This Sunday

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes annual Hot Stove Banquet has been scheduled for Sunday, January 28, 2007, at the Hilton Ontario Airport. Bill Stoneman, Vice President and General Manager of Angels Baseball, will be the featured guest speaker. The highly anticipated off-season event will take place beginning at 5:00 P.M. in the Sierra Ballroom. The Hilton is located at 700 North Haven Avenue in Ontario.

Tickets for this event may be purchased at The Epicenter or via phone at (909) 481-5000 and will be $45 for adults, $30 for children, and $400 for a table of ten. Proceeds from this year's banquet benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

"We are excited to kick off our 15th anniversary with the Hot Stove Banquet and are pleased to have Bill Stoneman as our featured speaker and to be working with the Cystic Fybrosis Foundation," said Gerard McKearney, Quakes Executive Vice President and General Manager. "This is a great community event that benefits a worthy cause and gets our fans geared up for the upcoming season."

Musical entertainment will also be provided by the Etiwanda High School Jazz Ensemble during the dinner portion of the event. Over 300 baseball fans attended the Hot Stove Banquet last winter, with nearly 400 fans expected to be in attendance this year.

Stoneman, 62, has been General Manager of the Angels since late 1999. His baseball resume includes an eight-year playing career in Major League Baseball, where he pitched for the Chicago Cubs and Montreal Expos as well as the Angels. Stoneman threw two no-hitters and was selected to one National League All-Star team during his five seasons with the Expos and finished his career with a 54-85 record and a 4.08 ERA in 245 games. Stoneman had prior administrative experience with Montreal prior to coming to the Angels organization, serving as Expos GM from 1987-88. Stoneman was a graduate of the University of Idaho and owns a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma.
