Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Modesto Nuts finally earned a win at The Epicenter here in 2011, knocking off the Quakes by a final score of 7-2 on Friday night.

Chad Bettis (10-5) fanned ten hitters over seven strong innings and Modesto snapped Rancho's stranglehold over the Nuts at The Epicenter, improving to 1-5 in six games this season.

The Nuts got a pair of runs off of Quakes' starter Aaron Miller in his limited time on the hill. Making just his second start since returning from injury, Miller (2-2) was again on a limited pitch count, allowing two runs on five hits over 3 1/3 innings.

Trailing 2-0 in the third, the Quakes finally got to Bettis for a run. Rafael Ynoa led off with a single and then scored on a Nick Buss triple to make it 2-1. After driving the ball off the glove of the leaping center fielder Delta Cleary, Buss was actually waved around third, but thrown out on a close play at the plate, just missing an inside-the-park home run.

Miller left with one out in the fourth, turning it over to Arismendy Ozoria. Although Ozoria got the final two outs of the fourth, he struggled in the fifth, allowing five runs. Jared Clarks' grand slam highlighted the five-run frame, as the Nuts took a 7-1 lead.

Angelo Songco's two-out single capped the scoring in the eighth, as the Quakes got a run off of Sheng-An Kuo, making it 7-2.

Modesto reliever Chad Rose allowed a pair of baserunners in the ninth, as Wilberto Ortiz and Preston Mattingly had consecutive singles. Rose would buckled down though, striking out Buss to end the game, leaving the tying run in the hole.

The Quakes (23-19, 61-50) look for three of four in the series, sending JonMichael Redding (8-5) to the mound on Saturday night. Modesto's Parker Frazier (8-9) will go for the Nuts.

Saturday night is Safeco Insurance Fireworks Night, as everyone will enjoy a post-game Fireworks Celebration, thanks to Safeco Insurance and KOLA 99.9. In addition, we'll be raising awareness for the Alzheimer's Association - California Southland Chapter, as the Quakes will be wearing special jerseys, which will be auctioned off throughout the game. Game time is 7:05pm. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com.
