Quad City's Ty Rimmer Named Central Hockey League Rookie of the Month

GLENDALE, AZ (January 2, 2014) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Quad City Mallards goaltender Ty Rimmer has been named the recipient of the Central Hockey League Rookie of the Month for December/2013.

Rimmer won three of his five starts in the month, all on the road, allowing just three total goals during his trio of victories. He finished December with a 2.01 goals against average and a .938 save percentage. The Edmonton native also earned his first American Hockey League call-up early in the month being summoned by the Oklahoma City Barons (the top affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers).

The 21-year-old's best showing came in his pro shutout when he stopped 48 shots in a 2-0 win in Rapid City, the league's top team. On the season, Rimmer is 7-5-2 with a 2.76 goals against average.
