QMJHL announces winners of the RDS mid-season rookie excellence awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Thursday, December 17, 2009 - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today announced the eighteen winners of the RDS mid-season rookie excellence awards. Each award-winner was selected by his team's club.

RDS and the QMJHL are longstanding partners. The partnership's goal is to recognize the talent and potential of young players from across major junior hockey.

"Through the RDS mid-season rookie excellence awards program, RDS wishes to underline the efforts made by these young men in order to meet today's demanding challenges," said Michel Gagnon, the Vice-President of Marketing and Sales at RDS. "We're extremely proud to play a part in their development and we salute their perseverance and talent."

The mid-season rookies become eligible to win the RDS Trophy as the QMJHL's top rookie. The winner of this prestigious award will be announced at the Golden Puck Awards Gala on March 31st and will receive a bursary worth $1,000.
