NEW ORLEANS (July 9, 2012) - Late last week, intern Katelyn Fitzpatrick sat down with New Orleans VooDoo offensive lineman Patrick Afif for this week's VooDoo Question and Answer. Afif is in his fourth season in the AFL and his first with the VooDoo.
KATELYN FITZPATRICK: What was your greatest sports moment?
PATRICK AFIF: My greatest sports moment was when I started for the first time for Washington State in front of my friends and family.
KF: Who is your favorite athlete today?
PA: My favorite athlete is my friend Mark Trumbo who plays for the Los Angeles Angels.
KF: Do you have any pregame rituals on game day?
PA: My pregame rituals are pretty strict. I like to get a good breakfast, and sometimes I go by myself. I watch one hour of film and then I take a dip in the pool at the apartment.
KF: If the VooDoo win the ArenaBowl, the first thing you will do is.?
PA: If we win, I'll party like it is 1995.
KF: What is your favorite style of music?
PA: I like everything. Right now, my driving music is country.
KF: What is on your pregame playlist?
PA: I have a mixture of everything. I listen to Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Rise Against, Foo Fighters and ACDC.
KF: Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera and why?
PA: I would say Britney Spears. I found that school girl outfit very attractive.
KF: What celebrity would you most like to meet and why?
PA: I would have liked to meet Chris Farley. I love his stuff, and he seems fun to hang out with.
KF: What is your favorite type of movie?
PA: I really like comedy.
KF: Do you have a nickname and how did you get that nickname?
PA: People call me Biggie. I got the name from my trainer who was Canadian, and it just stuck.
KF: What was your greatest moment outside of sports?
PA: My greatest moment would be when I graduated from college. It made me very happy, plus I got my degree.
KF: What is your biggest fear?
PA: For being as tall as I am, I'm not the biggest fan of heights.
KF: What is the most interesting thing about you?
PA: I'd say I'm the jack of all trades.
KF: What is your best non-athletic talent?
PA: I would like to say I'm a phenomenal dancer, but I do play the bass.
KF: The person who has influenced you the most in your life is?
PA: Growing up, my grandfather influenced me the most. Now, it's my brother because he always pushed me further.
KF: Do you have a favorite quote or saying?
PA: "The juice has to be worth the squeeze."
KF: If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
PA: I would like to do a Euro trip. I would like to go to England, Ireland and Austria because I've always wanted to see those places.
KF: What was the best advice you were ever given?
PA: If you chase after girls, they'll run. But, if you run, they'll chase you. My dad spoke French, and he would always tell me this in French.
KF: Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
PA: I see myself being the CEO of a company and doing big things with the family.
KF: Sky diving or bungee jumping and why?
PA: Sky diving. I would pay off the guy to kick me out of the plane.
KF: What is your favorite snack food and why?
PA: I like peanut butter crackers. I always used to eat them at my grandma's house.
KF: The one you thing you love about New Orleans and why?
PA: I love my team!
KF: What is the biggest obstacle you ever had to overcome in your life?
PA: My biggest obstacle was my knee surgery coming out of college.
KF: What got you started playing football?
PA: My grandpa got me started playing football. It was a big deal growing up to him.
KF: For you to improve as a player, you need to do what?
PA: I need to lose four years in age!
