Pulaski\'s 12-4 Win Not Enough
August 29, 2004 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Pulaski Mariners News Release
PulaskiâThe Blue Jays 12-4 win against the Astros Sunday night at Historic Calfee Park was a turn-around from Saturday's frustrating loss but proved too little too late as Danville clinched the division by winning Sunday. Because Pulaski remains a game and a half behind the Braves they cannot hope for a playoff birth with just a single game left in the season.
In Sunday's game, centerfielder Yuber Rodriguez started off Pulaski's electric offensive surge in the third inning with grand slam home run over the right-centerfield wall that plowed into the green fence protecting the road. Rodriguez finished the game 1-for-5 but amassed five RBI's and scored once.
Left fielder Luke Hetherington, 2-for-4 on the night scoring once and driving in two, drove in the remaining two runs posted in Pulaski's third with a line-drive single to left field.
Another star of the game, catcher Brian Bormaster, was 2-for-3 in the game, driving in three runs and scoring twice. His single into left-center scored the Blue Jays three runs in the seventh.
Still hanging onto twenty-four homers on the season, Greeneville's centerfielder Mitch Einertson, 1-for-4 on the night, failed to hit a record-breaking twenty-fifth home run during Sunday's game. He will get one more shot in the regular season Monday night against the Blue Jays.
Pulaski returns to Historic Calfee Park Monday night for the last game of their series against the powerful Greeneville Astros to wrap up the Blue Jay's season.
