Pulaski River Turtles News Release

After avoiding Mother Nature to play for the first time in four days, the Pulaski Yankees swept the Princeton Rays 7-2 and 1-0 at Calfee Park Saturday night. The wins improve the Yankees record to 19-21 on the season while the Rays fall to 21-19. Pulaski next welcomes the Greeneville Astros to town for a three-game set beginning Sunday at 5 p.m. with gates opening at 3:30.

New addition to the Pulaski squad, starter Raynel Espinal picked up the win in game one pitching for five innings allowing four hits and one run while walking one and striking out six. Princeton starter Edrick Agosto was tagged with the loss to move to 3-1 on the season pitching for 5.1 innings allowing six hits and six runs while walking two and striking out four. It was a tale of two innings for both sides as the Rays plated lone runs in the first and the seventh. For Pulaski, it was bringing three runs across in the third on a home run from Estevan Florial and then plating four runs in the sixth with the highlight being a bases clearing double from Leonardo Molina. Both Alex Bisacca and Will Jones came on in relief to help seal a 7-2 win.

Game two was more of a pitcher's duel with just six hits between the two teams. However, it was the Yankees who prevailed once again with fellow new player Brian Keller picking up his first win of the season pitching for three innings allowing one hit and no runs while walking two and striking out six. Princeton reliever Brian McAfee was tagged with his first loss of the season pitching for three innings allowing one run on three hits while walking none and striking out two. The solo run of the game came in the fifth with New Jersey native and yet another new addition Brandon Wagner doubling to left. A throwing error moved him to third before a ground out from Molina scored him.
