PSA Elite Eliminates Orange County in Second Round of Open Cup

IRVINE, Calif. (May 21, 2015) - Orange County Blues FC suffered a 2-1 loss to USASA side PSA Elite on Wednesday night at University High School in Irvine in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

PSA Elite recorded two goals to move them past the Blues and into the third round of the national tournament with goals from Michael Salazar ('19) and Mats Bjurman ('61).

Orange County pressed hard late in the second half to start a comeback. Those efforts, combined with an 82nd minute red card ejection to PSA's Jamel Wallace, led to the lone OC goal from rookie forward Tyler Feeley, off a throw in from Jimmy Turner right at the 90th minute mark.

The Blues had several chances, but were unable to finish. Christofer Ramirez crossed a perfect center to Amani Walker, whose header went over the goal in the fifth minute of play. In the second half, forward Chris Cortez fired a deadly shot off a rebound, but PSA 'keeper Wade Hamilton dove just in time to make the save.

PSA Elite advances to the third round to face Ventura County Fusion, who defeated LA Galaxy II on Wednesday, 2-1.

OC now turns their full attention to their next USL match, Saturday, May 30th vs Seattle Sounders FC 2. The Blues currently sit in 3rd place in the Western Conference, with a 5-3-0 record and 15 points.
