Princeton Rays General Manager Wins Award

October 27, 2010 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Princeton WhistlePigs News Release

Jim Holland, General Manager of the 2010 Princeton Rays, has been named as the 2010 winner of the "Appalachian League Promotional Award of Excellence." The announcement was made on October 27, 2010 as part of the Appalachian League Fall Meeting in Johnson City, TN. This is the third time that Holland has won the award, as he also received the honor in 2002 and 2005.

The award is given annually to the individual who is determined by a vote of Appalachian League executives to best promote and publicize his team while also having an attractive promotional schedule for his team's games.

"It is a great honor for our organization. It takes three components to have successful promotions: great fans, great corporate partners, and a great game day operations staff. I feel we have all three in Princeton and it is a terrific thrill for us that the other teams in the league feel recognize this also," commented Holland, who is entering his 20th season as General Manager at Princeton.

Holland, 52, is a native of Dunbar, WV, where he was a two-sport letterman at Dunbar High School. He graduated in 1980 with a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of Charleston in Charleston, WV. He also was honored in 1993 as the "Appalachian League Executive of the Year."
