Princeton Devil Rays announce new website

March 14, 2006 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Princeton WhistlePigs News Release

The Princeton Devil Rays announced the launching of a new website on March 14 that will feature many new and additional services for their fans. The address will remain the same at www.princetondevilrays.com but will contain many more updated news and feature articles relating to the P-Rays as well as the most recent in headlines concerning teams throughout minor league baseball.

Fans visiting the new page for the first time will be treated to recent question and answer sessions with four players from the 2005 Mercer Cup Champion Rays: Chris Cunningham, John Matulia, Mike McCormick, and Matt Walker as well as one with 2004 P-Ray pitcher Wade Davis. A Q&A session with 1999 P-Ray and current Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitcher Seth McClung has already been produced and is being held for release in the near future.

"Fans will be able to follow our updated statistics daily in the summer and also there will be periodic poll questions on the site that encourages active fan participation. We are very excited about the site and it also gives fans from other areas of the country an opportunity to shop on-line for Princeton Devil Rays merchandise," commented P-Rays General Manager Jim Holland when making the announcement.

The site was launched in a cooperative effort with Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM). In January of 2005, MLBAM and the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues (NAPBL), better known as Minor League Baseball, announced a major partnership agreement making MLBAM the exclusive provider of Internet related services and other interactive media services for the minor leagues. The 10-year online agreement, which began with last season, makes MLBAM exclusively responsible for the development, operation and maintenance of the official MInor League Baseball site, the websites for each of the NAPBL leagues and the websites for the NAPBL teams (one of which is the Princeton Devil Rays) that elect to participate in the new website network. Currently MLBAM hosts and maintains the sites for 33 minor league teams and leagues. In addition, MLBAM has been selected as the official statistician for MInor League Baseball.

"We feel the site has an exciting new look and we both invite and look forward to feedback from our fans as to both what they currently like about the site and receive their ideas as to what they might like to see on the site. This is indeed a landmark day for Princeton baseball," concluded Holland.

Fans with further questions about the site or any other subject concerning the Princeton Devil Rays are requested to contact the team either by e-mail at raysball@sunlitsurf.com or by telephone at the team's Hunnicutt Field office at (304) 487-2000.
