Prince George Cougars Statement on Nikita Popugaev

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars Hockey Club has announced forward Nikita Popugaev has elected to return home to Moscow, Russia, for personal reasons.

Popugaev played in 13 games with the Cougars this season picking up two goals and seven points. In parts of two seasons with the team, Popugaev recorded nine goals and 25 points in 44 games.

The Cougars were presented with opportunities to move Popugaev elsewhere in the Western Hockey League, but after consulting with he and his family, Popugaev decided it was in his best interests to return to Russia.

The organization thanks Nikita for his contributions on and off the ice, and wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.
