The Kelowna Rockets were successful in their effort to raise money for Cancer on Saturday, October 21st when they wore their special pink jerseys in a 7-2 victory over the Portland Winterhawks.

The game worn jerseys were auctioned off during the game that evening, and the team raised $10,000.00 from that jersey auction.

There was also a pink chuck-a-puck contest in which the Rockets raised $2570.00.

When the two are combined the total comes to $12,570.00 raised. All money raised is being donated to the Run for the Cure in Support of Breast Cancer - Part of the Canadian Cancer Society.

"On behalf of the Kelowna Rockets team, staff and management we are absolutely thrilled with the support for the Run for the Cure - Paint the Rink Pink Night," said Anne-Marie Hamilton, director of marketing for the Rockets. "Our generous fans and the players families, billet families, etc. really came through to purchase the players jerseys, game pucks and make donations. This year's donation of $10,000.00 plus the puck sales and donations really took this event to a new level."

The money raised at this year's annual Paint the Rink Pink is the highest total to date!
