Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

ATLANTA - The Silverbacks kick off their NASL Fall Season against the Jacksonville Armada (3-3-5) at Atlanta Silverbacks Park. The Armada enter still looking for their first ever road victory while Atlanta aims to rekindle its Spring Season opening 5-game unbeaten streak.

Both the Silverbacks and Armada come into this matchup after losses in the Fall Season opener, with the Silverbacks losing a close 2-1 match to the Tampa Bay Rowdies and Jacksonville going scoreless against the Ottawa Fury in a 2-0 result.

The Silverbacks are looking for their first points in league play since their last contest with the Armada on May 16, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Forward Hans Denissen scored his only Spring season goal almost 30 seconds into the match to give the Silverbacks an early lead, but Alhassane Keita responded in the 20th minute to round out the scoring.

Atlanta goalkeeper C.J. Cochran will get his second consecutive start for the Silverbacks as Steward Ceus continues play for the Haitian National Team in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Armada midfielder Pascal Millien is also playing for the Haitian side in the tournament.

Fans will have the opportunity to see some new, yet familiar, faces in the Red and Black. Abdul Bangura and Mohammed Issahaku have been promoted from the Silverbacks Reserves while twin brothers Paulo and Pedro Mendez, and Junior Burgos return to the team. MLS veteran Kosuke Kimura, who played for coach Gary Smith's 2010 MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids, is another addition to the Silverbacks' squad.

The Silverbacks are hoping that the Fall season ignites an offense that has only scored eight goals thus far.
